National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) an initiative by seven IITs and IISc Bangalore and funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) provides online certification courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities.

A Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) workshop was conducted on 15th July 2017 at IIT Madras which hosted officials from MHRD, Dr. Malathi Narayan Deputy Secretary - Department of Higher Education, Dr. Shankar Roy, Senior Consultant - NMEICT, Dr. Pradeep Kaul, Senior Consultant - NMEICT. The workshop created awareness among participants about NPTEL and its various initiatives, and also felicitated various Local Chapters on their performance in the previous semester. Mr. Tom Kurian, Assistant Professor of Computer Science Department attended the workshop.
