Five day workshop On “Aspire
‘15” was
organised jointly by the Centre for Continuing Education and Department of
Computer Science and Engineering in association with Indian Society for
Technical Education (ISTE) and National Institute for Development of Youth (NIDY).
The participants included Post Graduate scholars of various engineering streams.
The
official inauguration of CCE was held on 8/7/2015 at 2 pm by Dr. Kuncheria P
Issac, Vice Chancellor, Kerala Technological University.
The objective of the workshop Aspire’15
is to train postgraduates who are really passionate in teaching in accordance
with the latest in engineering curriculum. Dr. Jose Kannampuzha (Principal,
AJCE), Dr.D.B. Phatak (Professor, IIT Bombay), Mr.Abraham Kurien IPS, Dr.Achyutsankar S. Nair (Director,Centre for
Bio-Informatics,University of Kerala), Dr.Sabu Thomas (Director,School of
Chemical Science, MG University), Dr.Job Kurian, Dr.G Janardhanan (HOD,
Environmental Management, NITTTR Chennai), Dr.Philips Koshy (Senior Software
Engineer, NVIDIA, Singapore), Rev.Dr.Tomy Tharayil (Director,Danahalaya,
Alappuzha), Mr. Joe A Scaria (Director, Management Development Centre,
AJCE), Dr.V.J. Sebastian Narively (Professor & Head, Department of
Humanities, AJCE), Dr.Jippu Jacob (Professor,AJCE), Dr.Jacob Philip (Former
Director, STIC CUSAT & Professor, AJCE), Dr.Soney C George (Director,
Nanoscience Research Centre AJCE) and Mr.M.Jayakrishan (IDP,Educational
Technology,IIT Bombay) were lead the sessions.
The topics covered in this workshop were
Teaching learning principles, Student psychology and mentorship, Relevance of
research in teaching, Collaborative learning, Practical problem oriented
teaching, How to quick start research, Mobile learning, International
E-learning resources, Blended MOOCs Through edX for Millions of
Indian Students, Teacher as Leader and
Communicator, Career Orientation for Technical Graduates, Tips to Prepare Research proposals, Effective
Presentations, Innovation-Learning it From Nature, How to Write Effective
Conference Papers, Importance of Publications, Quality & Excellence in Higher Education.
There were 30 participants for the workshop which includes
students of various engineering colleges.
On the fourth day of the workshop each
participant took a demo class in front of other participants and a panel of
evaluators. The video of the demo class were recorded and it gave to
participants at the end of the workshop. The evaluators gave the strengths and
weakness of each participant in teaching based on their presentation.
